Music

Music is at the heart of life at Holy Spirit Clapham

Choral singing

The Choir of Holy Spirit Clapham consists of a mix of semi-professional and amateur singers who sing for Sunday morning and Evensong services.

The choir sings a wide range of accompanied and unaccompanied repertoire, from early English all the way through to late-Romantic French music.

The quality of the acoustics and the Hunter organ at make singing at Holy Spirit Clapham a thrilling experience.

If you would like to join the Choir, please do contact (musicdirector@holyspirit-clapham.org.uk) with your name, contact details and a note of what part or parts you sing.

Christmas music

The Christmas season brings plentiful opportunities to share the gift of music.

Here is an excerpt from our traditional service of lessons and carols from Christmas 2021.

Fauré - Pie Jesu

In September 2017, a number of talented singers reinforced the choir to perform Fauré's Requiem to sing for peace for One Day One Choir.

Some will complain (rightly) that the baritone solos from Roger Eastman were gorgeous, and (rightly again) that the choir sang magnificently under Sarah Mistry's direction and accompanied by maestro Andrei Lebed on the organ but we just happen to have this wonderful recording of Helena Mackie singing the Pie Jesu, and we thought you may like to hear it too!
